News » Sport Equipment Drive – July 2nd to August 2nd

Do you have unused sports gear or outgrown bicycles gathering dust in your garage, shed, or basement? Sport Central is calling on its residents to clear out their storage spaces for an impactful cause. Starting July 2nd through August 2nd, a city-wide sports equipment drive will take place to gather gently-used gear for children across northern Alberta.

Conducted in collaboration with local businesses, the initiative directly supports Sport Central and KidSport Peace Country families. Both charitable organizations operate with a shared mission to break down financial barriers to sport participation, ensuring that every kid, regardless of socioeconomic background, can experience the life-changing benefits of sport.

Organizers have set up multiple accessible drop-off locations across the region to make participation seamless for residents. Whether it is hockey equipment, soccer gear, baseball gloves, or bicycles, all gently-used items are welcome and will be inspected, safely refurbished, and distributed directly to youth in need.

Items Needed: Gently-used sports equipment and bicycles of all types and sizes. (equipment that is less than 10 years old please)

Key partners supporting the logistics, promotion, and transport of the gear include Boston Pizza, Canadian Tire, Fountain Tire, Rosenau Transport Ltd., and GLS. Their joint efforts ensure that donations collected locally are safely processed and routed directly into the hands of northern Alberta youth.
Residents are encouraged to look through their basements and sheds over the coming weeks to help make sports accessible to all children in the community.

To learn more about the initiative, find out what equipment can be accepted, or discover further ways to help, please visit sportcentral.org or scan the QR code featured on the event poster.
