Utility Rate By-Law

(Sewer & Water Rate Changes)

The Town has consistently meet or exceeded all regulatory and safety requirements related to water and wastewater standards provincially and federally. At the same time the Town will continue to plan for infrastructure and maintenance initiatives to ensure our assets are in a good state of repair.

The Town has been preparing its water and sewer budget based on best practices for a number of years. The basic principle is that there should be no reliance on the tax rate to support the operational needs of the water and sewer operations. The water and sewer rates are set on a full cost recovery basis. These rates ensure not only the annual operating requirements are financed but also the long term capital renewal needs are planned for and incorporated into the rate setting process.

      Water Conservation By-Law #885

The Town of Beaverlodge has a water conservation by-law in place. This is very important as it helps us to conserve and protect our water supply, while still allowing residents to water their lawns and keep them looking beautiful.

Normal watering days for odd numbered houses are Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday and for even numbered houses Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Watering may only be done during the following hours: 6 – 9 a.m. and 7 – 11 p.m. Flowerbeds and vegetable gardens may be watered by hand, at any time, using a watering can or a hose with a nozzle with a trigger shut off to restrict water flow. Children’s water toys may be used for recreational purposes as long as the children are present.

These are level 1 restrictions and fines can be levied if they are not adhered to. For information on Bylaw 885 – Water Conservation Bylaw or other Bylaws, go to the Local Government Tab select Documents and Downloads and then Bylaws from the menu on the left or see the attachment below
